Karen records “It’s You I Like” for Minneapolis children’s theatre group
Karen Peris has released a full version of the Fred Rogers song “It’s You I Like” on Facebook. The recording is currently unavailable on CD or for purchase. You can hear the song below.
Happy first day of Spring! Or of Fall, depending on where you live. Since today is also the birthday of Fred Rogers, we wanted to just share a recording I made this winter of a great F. R. song. I was asked by a children’s theatre in Minneapolis to record something for a tribute to F. R. that ran last month. I chose this song, and later found the following amazing quote:
“When I say it's you I like, I'm talking about that part of you that knows that life is far more than anything you can ever see or hear or touch. That deep part of you that allows you to stand for those things without which humankind cannot survive. Love that conquers hate, peace that rises triumphant over war, and justice that proves more powerful than greed.”
